With two advanced Quintus Technologies hot isostatic presses now fully operational, Wallwork will arrive at Formnext 2026 with significantly increased capacity to support the rapidly developing additive manufacturing, castings and powder metallurgy sectors.

Visitors to Hall 11, Booth F35 can discuss how the £20 million investment in the Wallwork HIP Centre is helping manufacturers improve material integrity, production consistency and component performance across advanced engineering.

“Over the last three years we have moved from establishing a new UK HIP facility to operating two of Europe’s most advanced Quintus systems and supporting customers in the UK, Europe and beyond,” said Howard Maher, Wallwork Group Sales Manager.

The second Quintus HIP, commissioned in late 2025, doubled capacity at the Manchester facility. Identical systems also give Wallwork important operational advantages, including repeatable processing across both units, interchangeable tooling and greater continuity of service during scheduled maintenance.

For manufacturers scaling additive manufacturing, castings and powder metallurgy from development into production, this combination of capacity and resilience is important. Both Quintus systems work at pressures from 40 to 207 MPa (5,800 to 30,000 psi), at temperatures up to 1250°C. Uniform Rapid Cooling technology enables controlled cooling within the HIP cycle. With over 30 vacuum furnaces in the Group, combined HIP and heat-treatment capability gives more opportunities to streamline component processing. Loading flexibility allows standard, shared or bespoke HIP cycles.

“Formnext brings together many engineers who are pushing the limits of additive manufacturing, castings and powder metallurgy. Applying high temperature and isostatic gas pressure densifies components and reduces internal defects. This helps engineers achieve the material properties and consistency demanded in safety-critical and high-value applications. Wallwork has the technology, capacity, quality systems and technical expertise to support the transition from product development into scaled-up reliable production,” added Howard.

The HIP Centre holds Nadcap and AS9100 accreditation and forms part of Wallwork Group's much broader thermal processing capability. Across four UK sites, customers can access an extensive range of heat treatments, vacuum brazing and PVD coatings. This enables manufacturers to place multiple critical processes with one experienced supplier, helping simplify supply chains and maintain responsibility for components through several stages of production.
