DARWEN COMPANY HELPS THE FIGHT AGAINST MRSA WITH ACTIVE BIO-HAZARD PROTECTION PANEL SYSTEM A new range of large GRP panels with an active ingredient for bio-hazard reduction has been introduced by Darwen based plastics fabricator Octaveward. The large panels address the critical need for robust hygiene in medical facilities, laboratories, clinical manufacturing, food process and catering. The panels are effective against a broad spectrum of micro organisms including bacteria, fungi and algae. Bacterial control includes MRSA, Salmonella Choleraesuis and other deadly microbes. Virtually seam free, and resilient enough to withstand industrial use the panels eliminate the gaps found in tiling and are far more attractive than grey stainless steel. Octaveward's bio-active panels can also be fitted to doors, where frequent hand contact is a common cause of bacteriological transfer.  The secret of the panels is a compound embedded in the polymer. This means that the antimicrobial action is permanent and is unaffected by cleaning operations. Director Trevor Williams explained, “The compound used in the panels is accepted and registered with the US Environmental Protection Agency. The hygienic panel system is not an alternative to thorough and effective cleaning programmes but does provide an additional measure of protection between cleaning cycles for critical areas and can help in hygiene and infection control.” More information: Trevor Williams, Octaveward Ltd, Tel. 01254 773300 Fax. 01254 773950 info@octaveward.com Web: www.octaveward.com February 20, 2006 PICTURE CAPTION Octaveward's new range of bacteria resistance GRP panels contains a specially formulated compound that is embedded in the polymer to give permanent protection against many common threats.
