New Online Door Store

The expansion of internet trading into novel areas continues with the launch of a new online store, www.uk-doorsdirect.com, pioneering the direct sale of custom designed doors to the public.  Launched by door specialist Octaveward, homeowners can design their own Samson composite door by selecting from a catalogue of attractive and durable components to create individual doors with style and character.

The process of door design is simple: choose a door style from a range of six solid or glazed models, pick one of seven finish options from solid colours to simulated textured hardwoods, then select from a range of glazing, door hardware and frame options before giving the overall dimensions.  The cost is automatically calculated and clearly displayed so buyers can explore different options easily.

Octaveward promised that, even though this is a bespoke product, prices will compare favourably to anything of similar quality available through retail outlets.   Customers can opt to have an Octaveward surveyor take the measurements and their craftsmen install the door if they wish.  

All doors have a 10 year guarantee and are expected to provide decades of low maintenance and trouble free performance.  Approved by the police under the ‘Secured by Design’ standard Samson doors have withstood severe attack and weathering tests.  All doors have triple point locking and quality hardware.

Samson composite doors combine outer skins of moulded glass reinforced polymer (GRP) with frames and cores of Envirowood.  GRP has been used for over 40 years in ocean going yachts and other demanding applications.  Envirowood is a material made from up to 70 percent recycled styrene which is mixed with other polymers to give the weight, density and a natural appearance of hardwood.  These materials require virtually no maintenance and will not rot, warp or split.  Furthermore, they do not host mould or parasites nor will they lose texture or colour.
