AUSTRALIAN AND NORTH AMERICAN CERTIFICATION FOR CABLE GLANDS USED IN HAZARDOUS AREAS Contractors, manufacturers and design engineers with an interest in hazardous area safety will appreciate that test houses in Australia and North America are the latest to test and certify the performance of Hawke International's cable glands. Along with European, Russian, Brazilian and existing North American approvals, the new certification means users can specify Hawke products with confidence, knowing they meet the required standards of the country in which they are to be used. The new Australian approval follows testing by International Testing and Certification Services (ITACS), who certify the glands for use with flameproof and increased safety equipment. Additionally, Hawke's North American cable glands/connectors have been tested and listed by the Underwriter's Laboratory (UL() for use with AExe and AExd apparatus under the NEC's Class and Zone Hazardous Location structure. This listing supplements Hawke's long established Class and Division approval. Full details of the certification are available on the Hawke web site www.ehawke.com. Commenting on the approvals, Michael Connelly of Hawke, said, "The oil, gas and petrochemical industries are truly international so it is vital that our products meet all the required standards. This gives our customers the confidence that in specifying Hawke equipment they are securing the long-term safety of their machinery and ultimately the process plant itself."
