HIGH SPEED POLISHING FOR R & D DEPARTMENTS Hand finishing prototype components is a thing of the past now Finishing Techniques has introduced the new ECO. This is a bench top version of the acclaimed OTEC finishing machines that are used in high volume manufacturing. The new ECO offers for as little as £1100. the same high standards of finish from a compact machine with high build quality, reliability and extensive back-up. Depending on speed, media and process sequence the ECO can deburr, grind, smooth and polish to produce a high gloss surface. The system can be used for dry or wet processing and has an optional dosing pump. Processing is faster than in tumbling and vibrating machines. The variable speed controller and timer enables consistent quality to be achieved without supervision, freeing time to work on more productive tasks. The ECO is a simple and effective alternative to industrial barrel tumbling machines that makes the process accessible and affordable for low volume producers. It is ideal for small studios or research and development departments within larger manufacturers. It offers true plug and play capability requiring only a standard 230 volt single phase power supply. The five litre drum will process up to 20 to 30 small pieces. A nine litre machine will be available soon. Finishing Techniques provide a full back-up service that includes media supply and a complete range of grinding and polishing pastes. Media types range from ceramic and plastic shapes to natural media such as walnut shells. The company will advise on the best media and process sequence for any given product and even test process samples if required.
