Precise and Flexible Coding and Marking for Dependable Traceability With the launch of the PXR series continuous ink jet printer range, Hitachi, a company with 30 years experience in continuous ink jet (CIJ), has set new performance benchmarks. Accurate traceability coding and marking is essential to manufacturers and engineers. Ian Luck, managing director of UK distributor, Euromark Coding and Marking, explained, “The PXR printers set class-leading standards print legibility, reliability, low emissions, cost of ownership and convenience. They also achieve exceptional print speeds, as high as 700 metres per minute so printing speed is no longer a limitation on line speed. We are confident that they will find ready acceptance within engineering, automotive aerospace and electronics manufacturers.” Hitachi engineer and manufacture all the main system components in-house with close quality control at every stage. This allows them to produce CIJ machines that offer exceptional reliability and value. Existing users include Krones, Sony, and TMD friction. Hitachi’s thorough approach extends to full consideration of user needs and the operating environment. Printer control, for example, is via a large touch-screen panel driven by context sensitive software. This makes set up, reprogramming and fault-finding simple and intuitive. The controls are housed in a robust, ergonomically designed, stainless steel cabinet, sealed to IP55 standards and capable of handling harsh industrial environments. Consumables are housed in the base of the cabinet. PXR systems respect the environment. They are fully RoHS compliant. The ink delivery system minimises solvent loss to the atmosphere, has miserly ink consumption and is easily accessed for quick and easy service and maintenance. Daily cleaning is not required and print heads are automatically cleaned at the end of each cycle in preparation for the next trouble-free start. Euromark are supplying five models in the range. In engineering, electronics and aerospace it is common to print onto dark substrates and a special model the PXR-P460W meets this need using pigmented inks. For standard printing the PXR D 260/460W is the workhorse of the range that will meet most needs. Other models offer high-speed printing, ultra-fine high quality printing and large-character case marking. Euromark Coding and Marking provide comprehensive support. This includes advice with machine selection and set-up, consumable supply and full after sales service. “In our experience industrial users find existing Hitachi printers totally trouble-free and economical on both consumables and servicing. With the PXR range we are building on these values and users will also appreciate the additional benefit of speed and convenience,” concluded Ian Luck.
