INTERNATIONAL CRANE CAMPAIGN
WINS ANOTHER CONVERT

The UK's largest industrial crane maker, Street Crane company, continue to win new customers in North America. The latest company to enter into technical collaboration is Canadian manufacturer Masco Steel of Wetaskiwin. Masco is a long established manufacturer of overhead cranes, supplier of structural steel work and machining services to business in Alberta, Calgary and Edmonton. Following an extensive evaluation of suppliers they have concluded an agreement with Street that gives them access to an advanced range of hoists, travelling equipment and crane components.

The trading alliance with Street has proved mutually beneficial. It has enabled Masco Steel to offer a greater choice of products by sourcing equipment from a high volume world class manufacturer. In turn, Street has gained access to one of the most buoyant regions Canada for sales of its components.

Engineered Air at Calgary are just one Masco customer to benefit from the alliance with Street. They took delivery at the start of the year of six 14.4 metre single girder cranes using Street hoists and travelling equipment. These are used in their heating and ventilation fabrication shop for the quick and safe transportation of components and finished product.

The Engineered Air cranes are of low headroom design and have under slung Street hoists with pendant control. For flexibility hoists are dual speed on all motions. The rate of lift can be 5 metres per minute normal or 1.5 mpm, likewise normal cross travel speed is 20 mpm reduces to 5 mpm and long travel 32 mpm reduces down to 8 mpm This enables efficient long transits with low speeds for safe final manoeuvring.

Street equipment is used exclusively by Masco for all wire rope hoist applications. "We have used other international hoist manufacturers before but have found that the high specification of the Street product and their exceptional technical support enable us to recommend them with confidence," commented Dennis Beck, Masco Steel founder and managing director.
