Hy-Ten and Bamtec News - Concrete Reinforcement

Bamtec is a system of steel reinforcement for flat concrete slabs developed in Germany for which Hy-Ten, one of the UK’s major reinforcement manufacturers, is the exclusive supplier in the UK and Ireland. The system offers significant savings in steel, manpower and time, allowing contracts to proceed more efficiently.

Bamtec integrates finite element design of the required structural reinforcement of concrete floor slabs with robotic manufacture to produce a series of bespoke reinforcement carpets which are then rolled out on site. The manufacturing data is transferred directly to the automated plant where each re-bar is welded onto steel tapes in the precise position required. Each carpet is identity tagged for correct sequential location in the floor slab reinforcement.

Steel Reinforcement Innovation is Key in Completing Largest Concrete Frame Building On-Time

The rapid construction of one of the largest concrete frame structures in the UK was aided by the use of Bamtec, an off-site fabricated steel carpet of floor slab reinforcement. Construction of the Forth Valley Royal Hospital involved the collaboration of many contractors and the application of innovative approaches to the construction. Bamtec, manufactured exclusively by Hy-Ten in the UK, contributed to the on-time completion of the frame and reduced the carbon footprint of the project.

Concrete Reinforcement Company Renews ISO 14001 Environmental Accreditation

For a second year, concrete reinforcement specialist Hy-Ten has been awarded ISO14001:2004 accreditation for its nine UK manufacturing sites. Recognised as the gold standard in environmental performance, the award requires companies to reduce their environmental impact in all areas of the business. This involves looking at all material and energy inputs to the business, all waste streams and all internal processes so that carbon dioxide emissions, energy use and materials going to landfill are all continuously reduced.

Roll-Out Concrete Floor Slab Reinforcement Beats Construction Blues

Steel reinforcement specialist Hy-Ten, has achieved sales of 10,000 tonnes for their innovative Bamtec floor slab reinforcement system this year, roughly equivalent to their record breaking year of 2007. This represents a real increase in market share for Bamtec in a sector that some commentators estimate has shrunk by 40 percent.
