Four Celebrate 20 Years of Service at Bury Rail Engineers Rowe HankinsOn Friday June 20, Rowe Hankins paid tribute to four stalwart employees who have played a key role in the past and growing success of the company. The Mayor of Bury, Councillor Joan Grimshaw, made special presentations. The recipients of the long service awards included finance administrator Joanne Later, stores supervisor Bernard Shaw and engineer, Mark Hunt. The mayor was joined in making the presentations by managing director Amanda Jones who, herself, received an award for 20 years’ service with the company. Joanne started as an office trainee, then went on to gain experience in all departments. She now specialises in finance, taking responsibility for sales and purchase ledgers. “This was a small business when I first joined and everyone was expected to learn different jobs and be adaptable. It’s a very friendly place to work and everyone gets on well with each other,” Joanne noted. This view was echoed by Bernard who noted, “Twenty years seems to have passed in no time. This is a busy place, there is no time to get bored and there have been lots of changes, with a good set of people to work with.” Mark, who is responsible for scaling up production of new products from prototypes to commercial manufacture added, “There is a huge variety in the work here. Coming from a mechanical engineering background I have been able to add new skills so that I can follow the entire design sequence from concept through the intermediate stages of development and testing to finish.” Amanda Jones began as a part time book keeper and has progressed to become managing director through various roles in finance and operations. She commented, “We are happily celebrating the contribution of our colleagues in helping to build Rowe Hankins. We have successfully grown the business by working with our customers in the rail supply and installation sectors to make their operations safer, more efficient and environmentally sound.” More Information Peter O’Neill, Tel. +44 (0)161 765 3000 Fax. +44 (0)161 705 2900
