QUALITY AND PRODUCTIVITY IN COMPONENT & METAL FINISHINGThe new DF series drag-finishing machines are a major advance in the manufacture of high value precision components. They are a cost effective alternative to manual deburring and polishing that improves quality, productivity and process cycles. The competitively priced machines are available in the UK exclusively through Finishing Techniques.Components are secured on hangers or custom made fixtures and rotated through the deburring/polishing medium. The machines debur or polish external and accessible internal faces at the same time. This removes the need for time consuming manual post processing. The risk of impact between components is totally eliminated to increase quality and product yield. Turbine blades, valves, instrument housings, and similar small items can be processed quickly and effectively. Recent tests show an improvement in the surface smoothness of turbine blades can be achieved from 64Ra to 4Ra in just 12 minutes. Two machines are available, the DF35 and DF70 with 35 and 70 litres capacity respectively. Bench top and free-standing versions are available. Each machine is supplied with processing container and a set of hangers. Additional hangers and containers are available to minimize downtime between processes by allowing pre-loading of product. Manufacturers can also customise hangers to suit the characteristics of their components or process. With a little training the DF Series can be easily operated by unskilled persons. Automatic timers remove the need for process monitoring. Low cost, high productivity and consistent quality ensure these machines have a rapid payback. Finishing Techniques offer full after sales service and support. This includes a vast range of finishing materials and other consumables. High quality materials and parts are used in the construction of DF machines to maximise reliability and minimize servicing. The process is almost vibration free and does not create excess noise. This is further contained by the enclosed safety cabinets. Soft start motors are available to reduce noise more, prolong the life of the equipment and avoid electrical disturbance within the power system. The DF series is just one in a complete line of equipment from Finishing Techniques that promotes productivity and quality in small component finishing. The company will happily advise on the suitability of machines for a given task and will run trial batches free of charge to establish the best product loading, process times and deburring/polishing media.
