New Spray Nozzle Promotes Process Productivity

Industrial spray nozzle specialist, Delavan, pioneered development of this technology and has invested substantially to maintain their technical leadership. Delavan SDX spray drying nozzles are available as original equipment on dryers from major manufacturers or they can be installed as an in-service upgrade. As direct replacements for other spray nozzle types they often show a significant improvement in dryer performance. The company also provide an express service to supply original specification wear parts, helping users maintain peak performance.

The vast range of nozzles and Delavan’s depth of technical expertise, enable the company to give advice on optimisation of flow, droplet size and spray angle to achieve the highest possible product yield and quality. Given information on the feed material, such as solids content and viscosity, current nozzle, dryer type and the user’s dry product specification, engineers will recommend the best nozzle for each situation.

The flagship of the SDX range is the latest version SDX V nozzle. The company has recently launched a check valve variation, SDX V spray drying nozzle. Maximising up-time is critical for operators of drying plants. Delavan SDX bodies are precision manufactured from stainless steel for durability and wear resistance. To ensure process continuity, SDX nozzles are designed for quick and easy installation and rapid replacement of the wear parts.

Delavan’s spray drying specialist, Frank Whittaker, urges buyers to beware of installing clone wear parts. “These are often made from inferior materials and lack the precise geometry and high standard of surface finish that make the Delavan nozzle unique. Counterfeit parts will not deliver the same performance as authentic Delavan equipment and may prove more costly than original equipment when additional downtime for more frequent replacement and poorer yields are taken into account.”

Delavan engineers can resolve other technical issues. For users who wish to upgrade from competitor nozzles, Delavan may supply bodies and adaptors free of charge for the initial transition. Other engineered accessories, such as lances to position the spray head away from the wall of the dryer, are also available.

Delavan’s catalogue of over 30,000 pre-engineered nozzles and components address the need for cleaning, coating, misting, dosing, or aeration as well as drying. Technical service is available via Delavan or authorised representatives throughout the world.
