Top Level Changes at Electrical Components Distributor Cudis/CPN

The pending retirement of founder Toni Hankins has prompted a change in roles at Rowe Hankins, the parent company of Cudis, owners of the CPN brand of electrical circuit breakers, consumer units and other components. Moving from managing director to chairman, Toni is assuming a strategic role.

Amanda Jones, former operations director, steps into the role of managing director where she is aided by Michael Hankins as assistant MD and company secretary. Chartered Engineer Steve Stone completes one year as technical director. Michael Hankins has relinquished his role as sales manager of the rail systems business to head up Cudis. As non-executive director Malcolm Farrar brings further experience to the management team.

“Having created two successful, stable and profitable businesses, and given most of my working life to the enterprise, I am now taking a back seat role,” commented Toni, adding, “I have a very strong and experienced management team who I am confident have the ability and vision to take the businesses forward.”

Commenting on the management changes Mike Hankins explained, “Cudis – and particularly the CPN brand, has grown rapidly in the last five years and we have plans in place to maintain the growth momentum. We value the market at £200 million and have only just scratched the surface, by maintaining service to our existing distributor network and expanding channel coverage we plan to win a much bigger market share. Because of our association with Rowe Hankins, we have access to a talented research and development team that has a track record in developing world-class products.”

Background Notes

Cudis is a designer and distributor of domestic and light commercial electrical components such as circuit breakers, consumer units and switches. Some of these products are factored in from reputable world-class suppliers. Others, such as the CPN range of circuit breakers and accessories, are manufactured under stringent quality control in China to design and specifications from the UK.

Rowe Hankins is a rail systems house, providing electro-mechanical systems. The company has extensive in house research, development and manufacturing capabilities. The three branches of the business are:

• factored systems – hydraulic magnetic circuit breakers and OTMR’s (on-train monitoring and recording).
• manufactured products – Hall-effect speed and distance probes and sensors and wheel flange lubrication.
• workshop services – remanufacture of contactors and circuit breakers to extend their working life.
