Lighting for Safety in Hazardous Areas

Chalmit Lighting - safety lighting, illuminaires and emergency lighting Chalmit Lighting is committed to producing offshore (oil and gas exploration), onshore, marine and industrial lighting products that give reliable performance in extreme environments.

A leading supplier to the hazardous area market, the company manufactures fluorescent and HID luminaires with international certification to meet every need. These approvals cover hazardous area classification in accordance with the ATEX directive, CSA, CEPEL (Brazil) and GOST R (Russia). The company also has certification for lighting products under the IEC Ex scheme. In addition, many of the luminaires in the Chalmit range have high levels of IP protection and are Lloyds/DNV vibration and DTS-1 deluge tested.

The company also produces an extensive range of specialised industrial luminaires, constructed to the same high specification as the Ex equipment.

Development and production are supported by in depth quality assurance systems and approvals including ISO9000:2001. Research is continuous and the company has close associations with leading universities for the commercialisation of new technology to bring higher levels of lighting safety, reliability and efficiency. Free software, Chalmlite™, is available to assist in the selection of the correct lighting and determining the optimal lighting density for efficient working.

As a member of Hubbell Electrical Products, a division of Hubbell Inc., the company can offer a global range of both IEC & NEC products suitable for hazardous area lighting and apparatus installations. Chalmit Lighting has a number of strategically placed sales and technical support offices worldwide in Europe, the Middle East, S.E. Asia and China.
