Having great pictures for PR and marketing is vital and this blog is about increasing the chances of improving your supply of useable pictures. It is not about camera gear or a photography tutorial. I am not a professional photographer, but as PR person I have an insatiable appetite for pictures to tell my clients' stories. Pictures are essential to achieving this successfully. Examples here are my own attempt at taking pictures.
Effective from May 2018, the GDPR is a new framework for data protection that replaces current UK and EU regulations. Chris Rand of Business Marketing On-Line and former industrial trade magazine editor, wrote a recent blog where he argued that the company web site should be viewed as a member of the team. The argument went thus: suppose a colleague rings in sick, it’s inconvenient but you can probably share out the work, re-prioritise and find work-arounds. Now suppose the web site goes down, for perhaps just a few hours. This often causes panic, especially if the website is taking orders directly but also because the web site is for most business a vital showcase to the world and acknowledged as the route by which many, if not most, customers will find you.
April 21 was the Queen’s official birthday. This is the day when the Awards for Enterprise for the current year were announced and, importantly, entries open for the following year. For any business, receiving this award is an incredible accolade. It is recognition for your achievements that wins admiration, respect and creates national and international publicity opportunities that last for five years.
No business operates in a vacuum. Whatever you do, you have to share your story with others to build understanding, dialogue and the trust that sustains business relationships. This is especially true today, when there is so much chatter and noise, your message needs cut through the clamour.
In the contest of ideas, you need white papers in your armoury. Historically, white papers were used by government to pilot new ideas and encourage public debate and contributions before legislation. In business they are used to demonstrate depth of knowledge, win respect and often to support a new technical approach over an established alternative.
